Management & Commerce

Business= Profitability + Sustainability + Justice

The Bachelor of Commerce program is a 4-year degree designed to allow commerce students to learn to be successful in business by seeing business as the servant of the larger goals of bringing about justice and peace in the world.

We are committed to equipping future entrepreneurs with a Biblically based understanding that there is more to doing good business than simply making a profit. As our slogan says; Business equals Profitability + Sustainability + Justice. Our students will learn to integrate a Christian worldview with the skills necessary to succeed in the dynamic world of commerce. We go well beyond ethics, and explore the questions of structure both at the micro and macro levels. Rather than segregating faith into one "religious" business course, we strive to integrate this worldview into all our course offerings. This is challenging because there are very few text materials to support this type of educational programming.

We believe in a transformational approach. We believe that the Gospel transforms the individual. That the transformed individual then influences the organizations in which they work. And that these organizations transform our culture and society. Out of this process new structures emerge which are more consistent with God's original intention. This is how we view the structural evangelism process. This is the mission context in which we view King's B. Comm program.

These programs includes courses in Management, Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Ethics. They also require students to take courses in the liberal arts disciplines of English, history, philosophy and theology. As a result, graduates of the program will be familiar with the broad issues and ethical complexities of doing business. They will be well-equipped to enter the workforce, ready to serve God and neighbor as ambassadors of justice and peace in a hurting world.

King's offers a 4-year Bachelor of Commerce degree. The Bachelor of Commerce program has a strong emphasis on the social impact of commerce on the well-being of society. The program will have a significant practicum experience and will allow a concentration in another discipline. The commerce program will also focus on small business entrepreneurship and social justice issues in business.

The inclusion of an Internship for students as they complete their third year of studies forms an integral part of the Management and Commerce Program. The work experience provides students with a real world application of their classroom learning and textbook theory. Through the Internship, students are able to experience new work environments such as manufacturing, large-scale industry, small business, government administration, or not-for-profit management.

Participation in a range of student activities, clubs and organizations is encouraged. King’s Commerce Association offers opportunities for student leadership, governance, networking and business community awareness.
