International Students’ Council


The international students’ council is a group of second or third year students enlisted to provide the necessary support for all international students at the King’s University College. Every international student is under the care of a council member who will be available to help them in ways to ensure a smooth adaptation into Canadian culture. Together with the Coordinator of International Student Programs, they also plan events and programs as well as promote joint events with the Residence and Commuter programs to create a variety of opportunities for interaction within the community at King’s and to learn about the different cultures represented.

International Students’ Apartment
The International Students’ Apartment is an apartment set aside in the Apartment Residence to provide a space for students of different cultures to live together, learn from each other and to increase global and local awareness. It comprises of a minimum of 3 international students of the same gender who are willing to be involved and active in the international students’ community. The apartment serves as a place for international students to go to in between classes as well as a headquarters for the International Students’ Council. It also aims to promote interaction between international and local students and aids with the integration of international students into the King’s community. Monthly events are planned in the apartment and the apartment maintains an open door policy till 6PM during the weekdays.

Globe Aware Week
Globe Aware Week is King’s annual festival celebrating our diversity and bringing a taste of different cultures to King’s. Students are encouraged to share pieces of their heritage be it through food, music, art or any other forms of expressions during the events that occur during the week. Weekly programs that go on at King’s will be based on a global theme in hope of raising awareness on campus. Globe Aware Week will be happening from November 2 - 4 in 2011 and Feb 29 - March 2 in 2012.
