First Year Experience
F.Y.I. - First Year Initiative
REGISTER NOW FOR SEPTEMBER
At King's we know that making the transition from high school to university can be complex. Everything seems new and exciting while at the same time a little scary. There are new friends, classes, housing, professors, even food... all of this can feel a little overwhelming. This is why the Student Life department at King's has developed the FYI course specifically designed for you as a new student. It is a great way to make friends that share your experience of being a new student.
Over the couse of the semester FYI will meet in class and in small groups to discuss everything necessary for a successful university experience. Some of the topics include new relationships, university time mamagement, roommate conflict resolution, and classroom presentations.
Studies have shown that students who participate in programs like our FYI course:
- Have an easier time making the transition to university
- Get better marks
- Are more likely to return to university for second year
- Will have a better time as they get to know people in the small group portion of the class
