US Foundation
In the early 1980s, this sister organization was incorporated under the leadership of Rev. Nick Knoppers, its long-time secretary and prime motivator, making it possible for friends of the University College in the United States to support it with tax deductible contributions. The relatively small group of US supporters (alumni, former faculty, staff, or other friends) has raised more than $100,000 (Cdn.) for special projects which the University College could not otherwise support, such as specialized computer software, special musical instruments, library books, and reference collections. It also provides a $500 (US) bursary per year to full-time students who are residents of the United States.
It is governed by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Council. Both are in a state of transition, and updates on membership in these leadership groups will be available later this spring. The US Foundation’s current president is Rev. Erika Dekker-Postuma, Grand Rapids, MI.
