Eagles Athletics announces new head coach of men’s volleyball
The King’s University is pleased to announce Patrick Winand as the new Head Coach of their Men’s Volleyball program. Patrick Winand is an alumni of the University of Regina having earned a bachelor of education degree in 2015. Since that time he has been involved in the sport of volleyball at numerous levels including playing, administering, and coaching high performance athletes with the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association. He is also the Program Coordinator, Director of Communications, and Coach Mentor with Regina Volleyball.
Prior to coming to King’s, Patrick was employed as a teacher at the Prairie Valley School Division and was an assistant coach for the University of Regina Men’s Volleyball team, as well as the head coach for Team Saskatchewan Men’s Volleyball for three consecutive years. At the 2018 Canada Cup, Patrick coached his team to a championship medal, which is the highest recorded finish for a Saskatchewan men’s program at the national level. Patrick’s involvement in the sport of volleyball has been outstanding as he has not only coached 20 different teams in the past 11 years, but he has also served on the executive board of directors, holding the title of Program Director and Coach Coordinator for two years within the city of Regina. Additionally, he founded Sport Made Easy and Sask Beach Excel, which are both respected youth indoor and beach volleyball clinics throughout Saskatchewan.
Patrick has won numerous provincial and Western national titles and was awarded the provincial volleyball 2017 High Performance Men’s Coach of the Year award. Patrick is also an National Coaching Certification Program advanced developmental coach in both indoor and beach volleyball. When not coaching, Patrick enjoys the outdoors, playing games with his family, and sitting around a campfire at the lake.
“We are very excited to have Patrick join our Athletics staff and look forward to the expertise he will bring to the men’s program from his experience as a high performance coach with Saskatchewan Volleyball,” stated Director of Athletics, Grace Scott.
