Year and Program: B.Ed After-Degree in Elementary Education, 1st year
Commuter or Residence Student? My first two years at King’s I lived on campus (first in a tower room and then in a tower suite), but have now been living in a house off-campus and commuting.
Hometown: Abbotsford, B.C.
Why you chose King’s: I chose King’s after coming to a King’s Encounter Weekend when I was in Grade 11. I could see myself as a King’s student, and pretty much decided then that I wanted to attend King’s!
What are your post-graduate plans? After I graduate, I hope to find a job teaching, ideally Grade 2 or 3 (ask me again after I do my practicum though because that could change). I would also like to move back to B.C. because I love it there, but on that one I shall have to wait and see!
Favourite cafeteria item: As embarrassing as it is to say, my favourite cafeteria item is chicken fingers and fries. I feel like such a five-year-old saying that, but it’s such a good comfort food.
Favourite thing to do on campus? I love hanging out with friends in the Level Coffee House. They have the best Chai Lattes.
Favourite thing to do off campus? Walks around the river valley. It showed me a whole new side to Edmonton.
What did you wish you knew coming into university? I wish that I had known how to balance my social life with school better.
Advice for new students? Get involved! There are so many different ways to get involved at King’s through clubs, student jobs, worship teams, sports, and more, so take advantage of these opportunities because they are a great way to develop really strong friendships.
