Marta Gomez

Executive Director of The King’s University Foundation P: 780-885-5438

As a champion of community and education for all, Marta Gomez holds 20 years of experience in relationship-building, business development, and international trade. With a background in political science and project management, Marta is skilled at finding opportunities which result in win-win relationships between community leaders and the socially-responsible organizations she has represented.

Until recently, Marta managed the corporate relations office at Athabasca University’s Faculty of Business. In this role, Marta focused on workplace learning, development, and employee engagement by connecting organizations and professionals to leadership and management development programs.

Having served as Assistant Dean, International of the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta, Marta increased enrolment among international applicants and connected Canadian students with partner research institutions abroad. Marta was instrumental in the internationalization of the faculty and the improvement of student engagement.

As Trade Development Officer for the Americas in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry with the Government of Alberta, Marta cultivated and facilitated public-private partnerships for Alberta’s agri-food products to penetrate new markets. By identifying solutions for collaboration and matching industry needs with customer-centric programming, Alberta’s agricultural exports grew exponentially year-on-year.

Marta is currently pursuing Athabasca University’s MBA for executives. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta, a Project Management Certificate from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, an International Trade Diploma from the Forum for International Trade and Commerce, and a Leadership Certificate from the Inter-American Development Bank. While her faith, family, work, and friends keep her travelling all over Canada and beyond, Marta lives an extraordinary life in Edmonton, Alberta with her husband Arturo, son Leo, and (energetic) beagle Darla.
