Giving Tuesday is a global movement designed to increase giving and volunteering following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On the opening day of the giving season, charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes.
In celebration of Giving Tuesday we want to give you an opportunity to give back to King’s by supporting students in a tangible, meaningful way. To keep up with the rising costs of education our goal is to raise $5000 for the Alumni Student Renewal Bursary.
When students attend classes in hopes of pursuing their dreams and landing the perfect job, they are often distracted with financial challenges. You can help!
"Everything was a question mark before I received financial aid and I'm extremely grateful for this huge difference in my life.”
Suwadhi Pathmanathan, 4th year biology student
Suwadhi pays for her own education and living expenses by working several part-time jobs at King’s. But this money just doesn't cover all her expenses so she also relies on financial aid to make up the difference. Her education would not be possible without it.
Alumni Student Renewal Bursary
The Alumni Student Renewal Bursary (formerly The King’s University Alumni Student Assistance Program Bursary) was started by a group of King’s alumni to help students just like Suwadhi. Through the bursary, donors help students reach their academic and professional goals.
This bursary continues to be funded by alumni to this day. Since it began, 209 donors have given to the bursary fund. The award has disbursed $144,250 to over 295 recipients.
We're asking you to help us grow this bursary so that each award can be raised from $500 to $1000.
Share this campaign on Facebook and Twitter. When your Facebook friend or Twitter follower also donates to the campaign you will be notified and be able to see the reach of generosity through Giving Tuesday.
If you are an alumni of King’s, let us know on the donate page which faculty you were a part of. If you’re not an alumni, please select a faculty to support. The faculty with the most participants will receive a trophy, to be displayed in the Alumni office at King’s, and bragging rights as the most philanthropic faculty of the year.
