Things To Do in Edmonton This Winter
Hope all is going well! Tis the season for snow and I'm sure there will be more coming. If you're ever tired of the snow and are looking for indoor activities or simply something to do despite the cold weather, check out some of the things happening around Edmonton this month!
December 4 - 13
Go out and visit the Edmonton Valley Zoo and witness the numerous light displays while enjoying a free steaming cup of hot chocolate! Come out and enjoy entertainment, skating and this year's maze! For more information and event schedules, check out their website!
December 5 - 6 @ 5-9 pm
Head out to the Devonian Botanic Gardens and walk through the path filled with lit candles while sipping hot apple cider and stopping for bonfires! Along your walk, enjoy the music from the a capella singers and feast your eyes on the glittering ice sculptures.
Now - Jan 3
As many of you know, the Muttart has four pyramids and in each one is a different biome. For the next month, the fourth pyramid is a wonderful winter scene filled with snowflakes and poinsettias.
Every Saturday until Christmas (1-5 pm). Enjoy a sleigh ride in one of Strathcona’s two-horse drawn sleighs! It’s a great way to get to your holiday shopping locations or simply to enjoy a ride!
Get a bunch of friends together and drop-in at one of the numerous arenas around town! Almost every neighbourhood as a local rink, and many of them are free! Check here for different arena locations and here for tobogganing areas.
December 4 - 5

December 3 - 23
Celebrate the Season is a month long event at the Alberta Legislature that involves lighting up hundreds of trees and over 70 choirs and music performances! Check out the schedule for a list of events.
December 4 - 6
The Royal Bison is actually considered one of Edmonton’s festivals. You will find a variety of crafts, artwork and design from around the city! Check it out this weekend! Visit their website for more details.
Head out to the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton and watch the amazing performance of the Nutcracker by the Alberta Ballet! Check out their website for show times and tickets!
December - January
Get some fresh air and take a walk down Candy Cane Lane (148th St) and prepared to be awed by all of the Christmas lights and the decorations.
