Admissions Office Assistant

  • One to two positions available with 10-12 hours of work per week.
  • Duties: Assist Admissions staff with calling and e-mailing prospective students, updating databases, write weekly blogs, assemble mail outs, lead campus tours, provide reception coverage, assist with on-campus events, and other assigned duties. 
  • Requirements: Students must have a good knowledge of King's, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong customer-service attitude, professional attitude, and computer proficiency. Confidentiality is required.

Social Media Assistant

  • One position available with 10-12 hours of work per week.
  • Duties: Promote campus life to prospective students by attending and taking photos of campus events, planning and posting engaging social media content, blogging, updating the website, and assisting with other office duties as assigned.
  • Requirements: Student must have a good knowledge of King's, be a creative self-starter, have experience with mainstream social media platforms, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and professional attitude. Confidentiality is required.

Alumni Relations

Office Assistant

  • One position of 5-10 hours per week.
  • One part-time summer position is possible after the student works in fall/winter and is local to Edmonton.
  • Duties: Assisting Alumni & Parent Relations with calling campaigns, assembling mail outs, organizing student care packages, database updating, managing social media accounts, scanning photos for Alumni archives, and assisting with campus events.
  • Requirements: Students should be creative and passionate about King's. Communication skills are paramount, and students must be articulate in both verbal and written form in addition to having computer proficiency. Students are expected to have an attitude of service, professionalism, and be comfortable working with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. 
  • A confidentiality agreement must be signed for this position.

Game Day Staff

  • Several positions available at four to six hours per week.
  • Duties: Event score-keeping, timers, ticket sales, line officiating, announcing during weekend basketball and volleyball games.
  • Requirements: Experience at the high school and/or university level is an asset.

Event Manager

*Contact Athletics and Recreation Coordinator for availability

  • Duties: Set up and take down of gym equipment for home basketball and volleyball games. Aid in the management of home soccer games, as well as other duties as assigned.

Bookstore Assistant

  • Four positions available for five to ten hours per week (a summer position is also available).
  • Duties: Operating cash, debit machine, customer service, receiving merchandise, restocking store, cleaning.
  • Requirements: Retail experience an asset; must be friendly, positive and reliable.

Conference Services

Audio/Visual Technician

  • One to two positions available of approximately four to six hours per week.
  • Duties: Provide audio/visual (A/V) equipment and support to university and external clients including set-up, operation, and take down of equipment. 
  • Requirements: Excellent interpersonal skills and initiative, experience with the operation of A/V equipment an asset, training provided.

 Student Cleaner

  • Three to five positions available during the school year (three to five full-time positions are also available for the summer months, May through August).
  • Duties: Daily general cleaning of facilities, maintaining and cleaning guest rooms, event set-up and tear-down. Some snow removal. 
  • Requirements: Ability to work well with others or independently, an ability to perform physical labour, willingness to work varying hours.

Groundskeeper/Light Maintenance

  • One to two part-time positions available, hours may vary per week.
  • Duties: Snow removal during the winter, grounds keeping including lawn maintenance, pruning, trimming, watering, edging. Experience with grounds equipment such as riding mowers and grass trimmers is preferred.
  • Requirements: Ability to work well with others or independently, an ability to perform physical labour, lift up to 30 lbs., willingness to work varying hours.

Security Personnel

  • Five to nine positions are available with 3-12 hours per week. 
  • Building security is required Mon-Fri, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for a total of nine shifts.
  • Duties: Careful attention to ensure the safety and security of the building as well as sharing some reception duties. All shifts involve opening (unlocking) or closing (locking) of the facility.           
  • Requirements: Responsible, prompt, alert, sensitive, common sense when dealing with visitors, attention to detail, ability to make good judgements, good observation skills and ability to work independently. Experience in security an asset.

Overnight Security Personnel (Summer Months – May through the end of August)

  • One to two positions available. Building security is required nightly (including weekends) from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. This position requires arrangements for on-site accommodation in student residence and is paid through a $300/month stipend per person (based on two people sharing the job).
  • Duties: You will be on-call at night, but may sleep in your room while on shift. You will be given an overnight security phone which you must answer in the case of an emergency and respond accordingly. You will also be on site to provide assistance to any accommodation groups requiring emergency assistance through the night hours (example: room lock-outs/urgent maintenance needs). 
  • Requirements: Responsible, prompt, alert, sensitive, common sense when dealing with visitors, attention to detail, ability to make good judgements, good observation skills and ability to work independently. Experience in security an asset.

Food Services

Food Service Worker

  • Multiple positions are available and hours vary. 
  • Duties: Cashier, refilling beverage coolers, stock shelves, washing dishes and pots, washing tables and counters after meals, washing floors after meals, making coffee, helping with food preparation, bringing out the garbage and recycling, other duties assigned as needed.
  • Requirements: Initiative, sanitary habits, enthusiasm, ability to work well with others, must enjoy working with the public, friendly, reliable, punctual, and honest. Experience in the food service industry is an asset.

Library Assistant

  • Positions of approximately ten hours per week. Evening and Saturday shifts required. Work period extends through exam week of both terms.
  • Duties: Attending to the service desk, assisting students, staff and faculty with library services, shelving books, book repair and processing and other duties as required. 
  • Requirements: Initiative, able to work independently, typing/computing skills, an ability to bend, stoop and lift (up to 40 lbs), attention to detail, reliable and good interpersonal skills.

Marketing Student Worker

  • Positions of approximately ten hours per week. Flexible hours to fit with student's schedule and extra-curricular activities. Some evenings may be required to attend campus events.
  • Duties: Assisting in the development and maintenance of the Marketing Department's photo catalogue and SharePoint database, entering tagging information (e.g. location, setting, characteristics, nature, persons, gender, etc.) and rating non-professional photography for quality, assist in assembling catalogues of past print publications to help maintain the historical memory of the Marketing Department, attend campus events where possible to take photography for social media and assemble brief points for written social media content when possible, maintaining the Marketing hallway display.
  • Requirements: Live close to or on campus for the purpose of easily attending campus events when required, possess a high level of computer literacy, have strong English writing skills for the purposes of entering descriptive text and tagging information, available to work between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for 10 hours per week, and some availability to attend evening events if possible.

Reception Desk

Front Desk Receptionist

  • Multiple positions available at up to 10 hours per week.
  • Duties: Greeting visitors, providing direction and information about the university, responding to and directing incoming phone calls, receiving and distributing mail, student assignments and deliveries, providing clerical support, using a computer, photocopier, fax, and postage meter.
  • Requirements: Pleasant disposition, strong interpersonal skills, computer skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Student Life 


  • Several positions available at three to six hours per week.
  • Duties: Taking notes for students with documented need for this service, attend classes with student requesting service. Note-takers must be returning students and may not be enrolled in the class for which they are taking notes. 
  • Requirements: Excellent note-taking and interpersonal skills. Preference is given to those who have the same area of study as the student requiring the service
