Meal plans
If you purchase a meal plan, the total semester balance is applied to your Student ID upon payment during registration. When you make a purchase from the cafeteria by scanning your ID, the cost of your meal is subtracted from the balance on your card. Unused money will transfer from the Fall semester to the Winter semester; however, at the end of the academic year, unspent money will not be refunded to the student. See our Meal Plan Balance Guide for an idea of what your balance should be at the end of each month.

Tower and tower suite residents are required to buy a meal plan, but any student can purchase a plan from the Office of Registration and Student Finance.

  • Basic: $3792 per year
  • Limited: $3244 per year
  • Tower Suite: $515 per year (available to Tower Suite residents only)

If students run out of money, additional money can be added to the plan in $75 increments.

Pre-ordering food
If you can't make it to Choices during meal time, you can pre-order your meal. It will be prepared and set aside in a fridge for you to pick up. It needs to be ordered before 5 p.m., and you can pick it up after 6 p.m..

Dietary requests
Our chefs are highly trained. One of our chefs has a diploma in nutrition to safely accommodate students with special diets. To get a special diet meal plan, a chef will meet and discuss the plan with you. Please email Michel at to start the process. It takes about a week to plan the menu. Residence students receive a form to fill out from Alison Exner, the Residence Life Coordinator.

Sustainable Dining

Choices is a “from scratch” kitchen, as most products are made by our highly trained chefs on site. We use locally-sourced ingredients when possible, such as:

  • locally-produced chicken
  • root vegetables

Some products are sourced from other local businesses, such as pastries from The Italian Bakery.

Help decrease our environmental impact
Use the recycling bins provided at our dining locations. Only purchase food you think you will eat to reduce food waste. Eat your meals in the cafeteria or bring your own take-away dishes to reduce use of disposable to-go containers. Take advantage of the organic and fair trade options to show our suppliers that you support steps towards sustainability. We can make The King's University a greener campus!
