Alberta Parks - Revenue Officer

The Red Lodge-Gleniffer Revenue Officer oversees the day-to-day revenue collection and campground compliance services in multiple locations, including Red Lodge Provincial Park and Gleniffer Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area. This position is based out of the Red Lodge Provincial Park campground booth.

The Revenue Officer works independently for much of their day-to-day operations to ensure payments are made in remote areas and that visitors have all the pertinent information they need around rules, regulations, and park activities. They also work with Visitor Experience staff at Red Lodge booth to complete self-registration data entry and counts, complete deposits, cover shifts in the booth, and follow-up on campground compliance issues. This position can be fast-paced and demanding, and it requires critical thinking, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

Rate of Pay: $21.14-$25.83
(Plus 11.2% in lieu of benefits and holidays)

Responsibilities

Self-Registration Administration

      • Lead revenue collection and administration for multiple campgrounds
      • Travel independently to multiple locations using a Parks vehicle
      • Act as an Alberta Parks representative in remote campgrounds and be the key contact between program areas for these campgrounds
      • Advise the public of the various rules, policies, and regulations that apply within a Provincial Park or Provincial Recreation Area
      • Troubleshoot visitor issues and provide on-site support
      • Collect and reconcile self-registration fees from Alberta Parks campgrounds and group areas
      • Ensure occupied campsites have valid permits and have paid appropriate fees
      • Review and approve Information Officers’ self-registration work
      • Provide day-to-day support to Information Officers on self-registration processes

Campground Compliance & Support

    • Provide exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for day users and overnight campers
    • Understand reserve.albertaparks.ca functions to register campers, update visitor information, and process payments or refunds using the system
    • Learn and adhere to all pertinent policies, procedures, and protocols, including OHS, campground regulations, and GOA directives
    • Participate in all required booth operations, including camper compliance, shower coin collection, group unit counts, and daily cleaning
    • Keep a clean & organized workspace at all times, with relevant resources stocked and ready to use
    • Receive, respond to, and follow up with customer complaints
    • Respond to in-person and telephone/email requests for information on area amenities and recreational activities
    • Learn emergency protocols to provide support to visitors and staff in an emergency situation
    • Work with the Lead Information Officer to complete bank deposits and ensure adequate booth till floats

Qualifications

Requirements

    • High school diploma plus one year related experience
    • English language proficiency
    • Available to work weekend and evening shifts
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Cash-handling experience and/or administration experience
    • Alignment with the required behavioural competencies or the role (see below)

Terms of Employment

    • Fulfill seasonal contract (anticipated late April – September)
    • Evening, weekend and shift work will be required (premiums are paid)
    • Shifts are 8 hrs/day
    • Access to reliable transportation to and from place of work
    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
    • Final candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check and a driver's abstract (will be reimbursed)
    • Recognized Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C"/AED Certificate
    • Adherence to Alberta Parks Uniform Policy
    • This position requires outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
    • Training sessions at the beginning of employment are mandatory

    • Training will be provided to successful candidates
