Business Analyst Student - Indigenous Peoples Summer Student Opportunity - Canada Summer Jobs
Up to 1 temporary full-time position for 4 months intended specifically for students currently enrolled in a supply chain, business or related co-op or equivalent post-secondary degree program

The Corporate Procurement and Supply Services (CPSS) Branch is an essential element to the City's efficient operations and was recently recognized again for its
outstanding service, innovation, strategic supply chain management strategies and commitment to thought leadership by the Supply Chain Management Association. From
facilitating the acquisition of products, services and construction equipment to balancing client requirements with corporate risk, we aim to achieve the best overall value for
the corporation. This award-winning team is looking for enthusiastic, innovative and creative students to join them.
Your duties will include:
● Collaborate with client departments, Senior Buyers and Buyers to select and follow appropriate procurement strategies, and ensure timely delivery of goods,
services or equipment
● Provide client departments and suppliers with information on procurement policies and procedures
● Review, reconcile and expedite discrepancies related to procurement activities
● Recommend and administer extensions and changes to existing contracts in a timely fashion to ensure business and operational continuity
● Assist in obtaining proposals and/or tenders from suppliers and prepare bid summaries
● Recommend and/or make awards based on bid evaluation criteria
● Participate in meetings and projects
● Create and maintain data using Google Workspace applications and SAP Ariba
Note: This position will be a combination of working from home and on-site working conditions. Working conditions will follow the Government of Alberta Health recommendations
Qualifications:
● Currently enrolled in a supply chain, business, or related co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program
● Demonstrated ability using Google Workspace applications
● Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including critical thinking and planning skills
● Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
● Access to high speed internet while working from home
● Knowledge of procurement and/or Inventory management concepts and techniques is an asset
● Experience with SAP is an asset
This position may be partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program provided by Service Canada.
● Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:
○ be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
○ be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act for the duration of the employment and
○ have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or
territorial legislation and regulations
● Canada Summer Jobs supports program objectives of helping young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, to transition to the labour market.
Priority will be given to applications from candidates who self-identify as:
○ Youth who are early leavers of high school, not in employment, education or training
○ Black and other racialized youth
○ Indigenous youth and
○ Youth with disabilities
Hired candidates must meet the eligibility requirements of the funder:
● Currently enrolled and returning to school or a Post -Secondary Institution in the fall
● Applicants must be Metis, First Nation or Inuit
● New hires will be required to register with our identified funding partners

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary: $19.749 - $25.135 (Hourly)
