Business Analyst Summer Student (Fleet and Facility Services)

1 temporary full-time position for 4 months, commencing in May 2020, intended specifically for students currently attending a business, commerce, management, marketing or related post-secondary degree program This position will be working with the Branch Manager’s Office in Fleet and Facility Services, City Operations. The position will work with the Branch Manager’s Office in supporting the business areas in terms of operational and business performance. Work
varies within the area, allowing the student to be involved in different aspects of operational projects and being presented with new challenges and learning opportunities in each of those aspects.
The position will report to the Strategic Coordinator in the Branch Manager’s Office and responsibilities will include:
● Collect data and use analytical skills to generate comprehensive reports
● Assist in the development and management of performance measurement dashboards
● Develop business process documentation
● Aid in the development of business plans for the Section
● Conduct industry best practice research, identify and assess approaches in other municipalities to support analysis and assist in the preparation of relevant reports and presentations
● Undertake project work, under supervision, relating to analyses, knowledge management, environmental scanning and other related areas
● Assist with other business administrative functions as assigned

Qualifications :
● Currently attending to a business, commerce, management, marketing or related post-secondary degree program
● Experience with research and analyzing is considered as an asset
● Proven computer experience in various Microsoft Office or Google suites, and related software programs
● Experience with Tableau is considered as an asset
● Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
● Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis with proven attention to detail
● Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and conflict resolution
● Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor
● Ability to embody the "Integrated" Cultural Commitment through experience working as part of a team
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple elements, limited resources and restricted timelines
● Must arrange own transportation; There is no public transportation to the site

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Salary: $19.749 - $25.135 (Hourly)
