Business Analyst Summer Student (Fire Rescue Services)

1 temporary full-time position for 4 months, commencing in May 2020, intended specifically for students currently attending a management information systems, operations management, data science and analytics or related full-time post-secondary degree program
Get an inside view of the workings of Fire Rescue Services (FRS). As a Business Analyst Summer Student, you will work on some of the most important data analysis and projects.
Key accountabilities include:
● Assist in the creation of a new reporting system using Tableau
● Support the management of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) data tables related to response configurations, event types, units, vehicles etc
● Provide information to various areas in FRS from data in FRS’ records management system using existing reports or by creating new reports and queries
● Conduct studies of operations, deployment and use of Fire Rescue resources, methods, systems and procedures
● Provide and analyze data specific to the operations of the Emergency Response Communications Centre; improve and identify efficient and effective fiscal, administrative and operational services
● Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data in various systems; report on key performance data

Qualifications :
● Currently attending a management information systems, operations management, data science and analytics or related full-time post-secondary diploma or degree program
● Demonstrated ability using Google Applications
● Strong computer skills including experience in Tableau or similar visual analytics tools
● Demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis with proven attention to detail
● Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
● Ability to problem solve and develop creative solutions
● Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
● Ability to work and make decisions in an independent manner in a fast-paced environment
● Excellent interpersonal, team, problem-solving skills required
● Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Salary: $19.749 - $25.135 hourly
