Corporate Access and Privacy Summer Student

1 temporary full-time position for 4 months, commencing in May 2020, intended specifically for students currently attending an English, library science, archival studies, information management, public administration, law, political science, social science or related full-time post-secondary degree program
As a public body under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act, the City of Edmonton has a legal and ethical duty to support the fundamental right of access to information and the protection of privacy. As a Corporate Access and Privacy Summer Student, you will have the opportunity to support the City of Edmonton’s Corporate Access and Privacy Office by
providing assistance to the FOIP team who are responsible for processing access to information requests and responding to privacy matters in compliance with the FOIP Act. Reporting to the Corporate Privacy Advisor, this position plays a key role in supporting the City’s access and privacy program.


Responsibilities Include:
● Review records responsive to FOIP requests
● Apply the principles of the FOIP Act to support the Corporate Access and Privacy (CAP) Office
● Draft correspondence related to access and privacy matters
● Open and close FOIP requests in FOIPNet and create electronic and hard copy files
● Draft engaging and compelling presentation and training materials for City employees
● Compile FOIP statistics for submission to Office of the City Clerk leadership
● Request FOIP files from the Corporate Records Centre
● Provide clerical assistance and support as required, including scanning, photocopying, and filing records
● Organize calendars and make meeting arrangements including drafting meeting agendas
● Other related duties as required

Qualifications :
● Currently attending an English, library science, archival studies, information management, public administration, law,
political science, social science or related full-time post-secondary degree program
● Demonstrated ability using Google Apps and Adobe Acrobat
● Experience using electronic resources, systems, and applications
● Experience performing research, analysis, and synthesis of written materials
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● High attention to detail is required
● Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Salary: $19.749 - $25.135 (Hourly)
