Edmonton Elections Warehouse Assistant Summer Student (Canada Summer Jobs)

1 temporary full-time position for up to 4 months intended specifically for students currently completing grade 12 or enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution, commencing in May 2021
The Edmonton Elections team is seeking to fill the position of Warehouse Assistant. Working closely with the Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for organizing the election supplies in the election warehouse for all election related events.
In this role, you will:
● Receive new inventory in the warehouse
● Put together kits of election supplies in boxes by voting station and position
● Pack all election worker's supplies by position
● Restock and re-kit election supplies
● Complete inventory
● Relieve the receptionist as required
● Other related duties as required
Note: This position may be a combination of working from home and on-site working conditions. Working conditions will follow the Government of
Alberta Health recommendations

Qualifications:
● Currently completing grade 12 or enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution
● Preference will be given to those students currently enrolled in a supply chain, business administration or related post-secondary diploma or degree
program
● Demonstrated ability using Google Workspace applications
● Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
● Demonstrated ability to take direction from and provide support to various city staff and the general public
● Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
● Ability to work and make decisions in an independent manner
● Ability to lift and transport heavy and bulky mail, packages, etc. in a safe and efficient manner; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
safely
● Experience working in a warehouse setting is an asset
● Excellent customer service and teamwork skills and flexibility in performing diverse activities
● Ability to solve problems independently, respond quickly to changes and work calmly under tight timelines
● Access to reliable internet while working from home

Note: This position may be partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program provided by Service Canada.
● Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:
○ be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
○ be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee
Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
○ have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant
provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
