Administrative Assistant Summer Student (Waste Services)

1 temporary full-time position for 4 months commencing in May 2020, intended specifically for students currently completing grade
12 or attending a post-secondary institution

summer student to contribute as a team player in our fast-paced environment, supporting our sales and marketing team for the
Waste Management Services Branch.


Responsibilities include:
● Enter records and information into a database using quality management guidelines and standards
● Respond to customer phone calls and emails to assist in composing quotes and invoices
● Fill out customer order request forms and coordinate orders
● Review and maintain records/reports using a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
● Provide administrative support with various projects, which includes data collection, organization, research, note-taking
and mail outs
● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :
● Currently completing grade 12 or attending a post-secondary institution
● Enrollment in a post-secondary program is preferred
● Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
● Experience with Adobe Photoshop considered as an asset
● Demonstrated ability to take direction from and provide support to various city staff and the general public
● Able to work independently and actively participate as a team member
● Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
● Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
● Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent)
● Must arrange own transportation; there is no public transportation to the site
● Knowledge of waste management initiatives in Edmonton is an asset
● Knowledge of ”product to customer” sales experience an asset
