Associate Dean, Research and External Partnerships
Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science [FEAS] at invites applications for the position of Associate Dean, Research and External Partnerships. The successful candidate will be appointed for a five year term commencing July 1, 2021. The successful candidate will receive a course release and an administrative stipend for the period of this appointment.
The processes related to the recruitment and selection of the successful candidate are governed by the Policy and Procedures Relating to Search Committees and Appointments in the Academic Administration (the “AAA Policy”). Once in this position, the Associate Dean, Research and External Partnerships shall be an “associate member” of the RFA in accordance with the .
The Associate Dean, Research and External Partnerships is expected to provide effective academic and administrative leadership to the Faculty, especially as it relates to grant-funded research planning and implementation, collaborative research activities and partnerships with industrial corporations, non-profit government organizations and other institutions. This position works effectively with faculty members, departments, clusters, zones and university-wide offices to develop and deliver strategic research initiatives. The candidate must be a tenured faculty member, and must possess a terminal degree in one of the academic fields served by the Faculty. A demonstrated competence in professional and/or academic administrative activities, leadership and a strong commitment to the development and maintenance of high-quality educational and research programs are required. Demonstrated competencies in supporting and enhancing equity, diversity and inclusion in research and demonstrated excellence in research, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
The Faculty consists of six departments, namely: Aerospace Engineering, Architectural Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering; Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering, and Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Currently there are 172 full-time faculty members, approximately 110 staff members, over 4500 undergraduate students and over 900 graduate students, in the nine undergraduate programs and 21 graduate programs offered by the Faculty.
