Good Shepherd Anglican Church seeks an enthusiastic and flexible Youth & Children’s Ministries Coordinator who loves to share the Good News of God’s love with children, teens, and their families. This is a part-time, independent contractor position with flexible hours and paid planning time. Join our team of passionate volunteers as we seek to equip families to grow in the knowledge and love of God not only on Sundays but all week long. 

Position:                                        Youth & Children’s Ministries Coordinator (independent contractor)

Pay rate:                                        $21/hour (~$125/typical week)

Hours:                                             ~6 hours/week which includes:      

                                                            Sunday Christian education & worship services

Time for planning, collaborative meetings, evangelism & community engagement, continuing education                                                           

Benefits:                                        Self-administered

Vacation:                                       Scheduled in consultation with the rector

                                                            Minimum of 2 weeks notice required

                                                            Not to exceed 3 weeks

Review:                                          To be conducted annually by the rector

Salary Adjustments:              To be discussed at annual review



The Youth & Children’s Ministries Coordinator will be a professional responsible for growing & sustaining a thriving ministry for children, teens, and their parents at Good Shepherd. This position reports to the rector and is ultimately responsible to the corporation of the parish.


A successful youth & families minister will:

  • adapt to a flexible workplace
  • respond to the direction of the rector
  • assist the rector, staff, and parishioners as needed
  • develop evangelism, recruitment, and rentention strategy for young families
  • strategically plan developmentally-appropriate discipleship programming
  • facilitate relationships with community organizations
  • continue to grow their own knowledge and learn from best practices at other churches
  • be courteous, professional, safe (according to both WCB and Safe Church standards), and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • display good judgment and the ability to solve problems
  • work well with the latest technology
  • display passion for Jesus and for those whom Jesus loves
  • support Anglican teachings that prioritize the Great Commandment


Typical duties include:

  • planning educational, prayerful, service, and fellowship events for children, teens, and parents, including weekly Sunday school
  • recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers to staff those events
  • researching and choosing curricula
  • running annual summer camp
  • curating inventory of materials to support programs
  • coordinating with parish leaders to support church mission
  • coordinating with leaders in the field to improve knowledge and learn from best practices
  • other duties as assigned
