Research & Evaluation Analyst (Permanent, Full-time)

Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for the right individual to fill the position of a Permanent, Full-time Research & Evaluation Analyst. Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, this position will work to refine Bissell Centre’s existing dataset and best practices by using research, guide evaluative processes with program leadership, and communicate findings to improve service delivery and ultimately participant outcomes. This role will incorporate the goals of the Strategic Plan into the following; research coordination, program evaluation, communications and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities

Research Coordination
•Identify knowledge gaps both for Bissell, and for the sector
•Outline and implement research projects to address said gaps
•Maintain, compile and analyze and disseminate agency findings and reports
•Undertake literature reviews to determine external knowledge relevant to internal project
Program Evaluation
•Program evaluation, from project conception to completion
•Evaluation design, selecting the most appropriate methods to answer the central question
•Instrument design, including survey creation, interview planning, and data point selection in ETO
•Data collection, including conducting interviews, focus groups, surveys, etc.
•Data analysis, qualitative including thematic, and quantitative, statistical methods.
•Dissemination of results in most appropriate format suited to intended audience
Communication & Capacity Building
•Create and implement organizational dashboarding infrastructure
•Create and maintain information governance policies and procedures
•Ensure all data handling activities across the organization are done to a rigorous ethical standard
•Build staff capacity around evaluation, logic modelling and qualitative evaluation
•Present research findings internally and externally
•Participate in internal and external committees and stakeholder groups


The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications
Formal Education and Experience
•Masters level degree in area of applied social research or 2 to 5 years of work experience
•Proven work experience in program evaluation
•Understanding of ethical information stewardship practices, including but not limited to informed consent
•Experience working with large datasets
•Familiarity with STATA an asset
•Familiarity with applicable Alberta privacy legislation (FOIP, PIPA, HIA) an asset
•Familiarity with End Poverty Edmonton’s Road Map, and with “A Place to Call Home: Edmonton’s Updated Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness” an asset
•Familiarity with OCAP principles an asset
•Understanding of Indigenous culture and ways of knowing an asset
•Ability to understand systems thinking and to position learning generated within Bissell Centre within wider ecosystem, and to identify learnings with wider policy implications
