We are a family who desire to support our adult daughter to continue on her journey towards independence – assisting her in creating a meaningful life. At this time she is living in a house near Millgate Transit station and would benefit from a Supportive Roommate. We are currently recruiting for a Supportive Roommate. Primarily supporting our daughter in minimal day to day activities. As a Supportive Roommate you may choose how many hours and what skills you would like to support our daughter with and other staff will be hired to support her various activities. Depending on your schedule you may choose responsibilities that promote her growth & skills (cooking skills) developing greater autonomy (ETS trip planning to new locations), coordinating appropriate activities and sharing information / managing support together with her family and the agency supporting her. Duties could include administering medication, meal planning and preparation, coordinating housekeeping duties and care of the premises.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English are required for recording and reporting information. A high school diploma with at least one year of secondary studies plus six months related work experience along with being a non-smoker / non-alcohol drinker are required. Preference will be given to those with social work, psychology, education or theological studies. Equivalencies may be considered. Your ability to work independently with flexibility will be critical to your success in this role.
Approximately $18.00 per hour depending on experience.
This position involves flexible hours.
The successful candidate must provide a Criminal Records Check.
