Loan Consultant

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Loan Consultant will be responsible for growing the current loan portfolio and advancing the vision, mission, and values of the CCDC. This person will also contribute to the current marketing strategy to provide loans to the larger Christian community in Canada. Key roles & responsibilities

  • Proactively interacting with prospects and existing partners to help provide them with the necessary information that will enable them to make the right loan-related decisions
  • Engaging in outside marketing and promotional activities to acquire new loans, adhering to a disciplined promotion approach, understanding the partner’s needs, and securing new referrals
  • Deepen existing relationships with current stakeholders by understanding their needs as well as providing sound advice and recommending appropriate loan solutions
  • Maintaining an updated and comprehensive database of prospects and stakeholders
  • Acting as a first point of contact for incoming loan requests
  • As part of due diligence, conducting onsite tours and loan consultation meetings at the loan applicant’s location
  • Preparing quality loan consultation reports. Gathering and assembling all requirements for loan approval, while adhering to CCDC Lending Policy and Procedures and ensuring the integrity and completeness of loan data
  • Processing and following up on loan applications diligently and in a timely fashion, while helping the applicants through the loan process; responding to inquiries, resolving problems, and providing regular updates to applicants
  • Submitting quarterly promotion and progress reports
  • Undertaking any other assignments as requested by the General Manager
  • Working with the General Manager to implement procedures that ensure the effective functioning of CCDC
  • Collaborating with the security liaison on matters related to mortgage placement
  • Contributing to regular office maintenance and upkeep
  • Travelling (some required) to conduct loan consultations and attend conferences, meetings, and events to promote CCDC


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A minimum two (2) year diploma or an undergraduate degree
  • Three (3) years of proven and relevant work experience in a loan consulting or equivalent position
  • Strong financial acumen with a background in finance, lending, and/or investment; ability to comprehend, analyze, and explain loan agreements, financing options, and basic mathematic principles
  • Understanding and ability to prepare loan amortization schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve personal and organizational goals as well as financial targets
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain a referral network as well as the ability to leverage relationships that consistently generate qualified referrals
  • Demonstrated skills in resource management, project planning, and customer service
  • Intermediate to advanced computing skills (MS Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to market, promote, and collaboratively grow the loan portfolio
  • A practising Christian with strong Christian beliefs would be ideal for the role

  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills: logical, realistic, deliberate, and practical
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to the mission, values, and Statement of Beliefs and Practices of the CCDC
  • A strong team player who inspires other colleagues and constantly models the behaviours important to the organization; flexible and positive toward working in a small team environment
  • A “winning” attitude and a positive, professional, and enthusiastic approach
  • Understanding of, or aptitude for, the organizational structure of congregationally-governed churches and para-church institutions
  • Comfort interacting with executives, board directors, and other leaders in the Christian community
  • Willing and able to travel within Canada for loan consultations and promotional meetings, spending at least four days a month in the field
