Tim Veenstra

Employers: Norwest Labs/ Bodycote Edmonton Lab.
Position: Sample Preparation Technician.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Dates: May 8 to August 18, 2006

My main duties were to prepare samples in order to get them ready for the various analysis in the lab.  I worked with different types of soils and some liquids and prepared them for testing.  I was also in charge of disposal of samples that were finished being analyzed.  I performed different tests on the samples before they went to the technicians and I also helped various technicians complete different jobs.  I basically helped make the lab run smoothly and efficiently.

At Norwest I received training in laboratory techniques and other software programs.  I have increased my efficiency skills and laboratory skills.  One thing that I liked about Norwest was the group of people that I worked with.  They were all very nice and easy to get along with.  I also liked the flexibility that there was at Norwest.

I did this internship to see if laboratory work was something that I would enjoy as a possible career.  The internship helped see what different aspects laboratory analysis were like.
