Lauren Kroetsch, Biology and Kinesiology

King’s immediately left a lasting impression on me, I felt at home from the moment I walked in. What put King’s on the radar for me was the volleyball program, but I soon realized that the loving environment I found on my team was present throughout the whole school. No other school compares to the positive atmosphere, or provides such an incredible support system from staff and faculty to their students. Here, professors want to know you and reach out as mentors to guide you through university, and beyond.

I chose a biology major and kinesiology minor because I initially dreamed of pursuing a career in physiotherapy. I was always very involved in sports growing up and knew that I wanted to give back to the athletics community. Overtime, my goals changed and I realized through kinesiology at King’s that I am truly passionate about mentoring and teaching. Through coaching younger athletes and tutoring, I have found my true calling in education. King’s kinesiology professors encourage hands on learning, and focus on the importance of ethics in sport. My courses have, and continue, to provide me with skills and strategies to reach out to athletes in order to promote the healthiest, most efficient way of attaining a goal.
