I enrolled at King's in 2001 and initially stayed for only one semester. Once I had taken some time away to pursue my carpentry certification I returned to King's to finish my Chemistry degree.
My natural and applied science classes taught me so much more than just science, they taught me to think critically and be able to thoughtfully engage with issues impacting the world today. Overall, my time at King's completely changed how I viewed our world, I honed my critical thinking skills and ultimately come out of my degree a better person.
"I had a lot of big questions and it was amazing having Christian professors to walk me through those."
Dr. Peter Mahaffy was my academic advisor and he was so patient with my questions. There were many occasions where I sat with Peter to discuss things beyond class work and chemical equations, things like Biblical history and scientific timelines, how do these match up? How do these things contradict each other? How can we, as people of faith, reconcile the perceived 'gap' between faith and science? It was amazing to have a Christian professor walk alongside me as I grappled with these big questions.
