Student Experience

I chose King's because I wanted to learn in a school where my faith and relationship with God can be an active part of everything I do. This includes not only my education in the classroom, my assignments, and interaction with staff and faculty, but also with other students. Not only is this true at King’s, but I actually feel encouraged to dive deeper into my Catholic tradition and how it informs the way I educate.

"Instead of pretending that I'm neutral, I'm learning at King's how to integrate my worldview into my decision-making process in a way that respects others."

Going into teaching, one of my fears was that I would have to sacrifice a portion of my beliefs. While I may have to compromise, I am learning that as a teacher, I have a major contribution to make to curriculum design and delivery. The way I see the world impacts even the smallest decisions that I make. Instead of pretending that I'm neutral, I'm learning at King's how to integrate my worldview into my decision-making process in a way that respects others. I have a fresh vision of how to implement my major into the way I educate and it gives me a deep sense of authenticity as a future teacher.
