Canada 150 Inspired Learning Scholarship
Up to 150 awards available - Application deadline: May 15, 2017
In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, The King’s University is offering up to 150 $5,000 Inspired Learning Scholarships to new students. At least one scholarship will be available to every high school in the Edmonton area. Some awards will also be available for students from other high schools throughout Canada, as well as mature, indigenous, and home schooled applicants.
The scholarships will be awarded to Canadian students who demonstrate strong academic and leadership skills, and will require a nomination letter from a high school guidance counsellor, teacher, pastor, or community leader.
“This is an incredible opportunity for King’s to inspire enthusiasm for post-secondary education among local students,” says Director of Admissions Hilda Buisman. “It is our hope that these scholarships will not only recognize students of the highest caliber, but will also inspire and cultivate a community of students to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world. These are leaders that Canada needs to bring our country forward for the next 150 years.”
To be eligible, applicants must receive a high school admission average of 80% or higher, write a paragraph describing how they plan to uphold King’s mission and vision in their future endeavors, and register for a minimum of 12 credits per term for the 2017/18 academic year. The scholarship will be awarded in 2017/18, with half of it credited each term. Application deadline: May 15, 2017.
