War. What is it good for? Public Lecture

Nov 06, 2023

Join us on Tuesday, November 7th in N102 for Mark Sandle's public lecture "War. What is it good for?". The lecture is free and open to all King's students.

I don't want to write about war anymore. But the wars keep happening. Ukraine. Palestine. Yemen. So, what do you do when you cannot face writing and reading and talking about the cruelty and the killing and the violence any longer, but you know that it is really important to tell the stories of the millions who have been killed by the evils of warfare?

In this talk I will reflect on my own research on the human experiences of WW2, and how I have tried to come to terms with this quandary, of the space where the personal, the professional and the public all collide.
