Alberta Blue Cross Scholarship for Psychology

One scholarship of $750 will be awarded to an incoming first-year student with no previous post-secondary experience. To be eligible, students must enrol in the 3-year or 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree program in Psychology, be an Alberta resident, have an average of 80% or higher on grade 12 entrance marks, and have financial need. 

Bert Boren Volunteerism Bursary

Four bursaries of $1,500 each are available to returning students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and enrolled full-time in the Social Sciences (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, etc.) or the Bachelor of Education degree program. Applicants must currently hold a volunteer position in the social service sector. Selection criteria include written confirmation from the student's volunteer supervisor (including a description of the student's role and their time commitment), financial need and satisfactory academic standing (min. 2.00 GPA). These bursaries are made possible by a generous endowment received from the Estate of Robert Tegler (Trust) in recognition of Mr. Bert Boren's service to the Edmonton community. 

Dr. John Sneep Bursary

One bursary of $1,000 will be awarded each year to a full-time incoming or returning student enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts degree program with a major in psychology. To be eligible, students must demonstrate financial need and Christian commitment. Selection criteria include an intention of pursuing a career in counseling psychology or eco-psychology. Preference will be given to applicants who also demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship. Dr. John Sneep was a professor of psychology at King’s from 2000-2009 where he was a beloved teacher who impacted the lives of many students.

Reta Haarsma Scholarship

Five scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded each year to a full-time student enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts degree program with a major/concentration in Theology or Psychology. To be eligible, students must have an average of 80% or better on high school entrance marks, or maintain a 3.30 GPA. Selection criteria include academic achievement and demonstrated Christian commitment. Reta Haarsma, who operated The King's University Bookstore for 25 years from 1979 to 2004, established this scholarship.

King's General Transfer Scholarship

Scholarships of $1,500 are available for students transferring to any non-after degree program from other qualifying institutions. Students must have a minimum of 24 university transfer credits to qualify. Students must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher based on, at most, the previous 60 credits of study. Students must enrol in a minimum of 12 credits per semester the year they receive the scholarship.

Returning Student Scholarship - Excellence

Scholarships of $2,000 are available for returning King's students entering their second, third or fourth year with a GPA between 3.80-4.0. To be eligible, students must have completed a minimum of 18 credits and passed all their courses, including the Interdisciplinary Perspectives course, in the previous academic year. Secondly, students must enrol in 12 credits per semester for the upcoming academic year. All students meeting the criteria will receive this scholarship; no application is necessary. Awards are subject to verification of eligibility in September.

Secondly, students must enrol in 12 credits per semester for the upcoming academic year. All students meeting the criteria will receive this scholarship; no application is necessary. $3,000 admission scholarships are available to students who are admitted to King's based on their high school marks. Students must have attempted fewer than 9 credits of accredited post-secondary study, or fewer than 30 credits of a non-accredited program with results that indicate success equivalent to their high school admission average. Recipients must register in at least 12 credits per semester during the academic year to keep their scholarship. King's will use the following table to determine students' eligibility.
