What is Kinesiology? 

Kinesiology is the science of human movement, and it involves study of biology, exercise and athletics. Earning a degree in kinesiology can lead to a variety of job opportunities. Kinesiology involves the study of human movement and brings together a number of different fields, including physiology, neuroscience, fitness and exercise science. Kinesiologists explore how people of different ages and fitness levels use their motor skills. Kinesiology knowledge can be applied to everything from sports management and fitness to physical education and rehabilitation programs for people with diseases, disabilities or injuries.

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology 

The Alberta Grade 12 Courses Requirements to get into this program include: 

  • English Language Arts 30-1 (grade of at least 60%) 
  • Chemistry 30 
  • Mathematics 30-1 
  • Physics 30 
  • One of: Biology 30; Physical Education 30 

The competitive average for direct entry into this program is over 80%.

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology 

Requirements for admission to the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management: 

  • Successful completion of at least one year of university level study (any 24-30 credit hours at the University of Manitoba or equivalent) 
  • A minimum Adjusted Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.0 (C)

Additional requirements for the Bachelor of Kinesiology, Athletic Therapy Program only: 

  • Successful completion of at least one year of university level study (any 24-30 credit hours at the University of Manitoba or equivalent) 
  • A minimum Adjusted Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.0 (C). 
  • Completion of Biology 1020 and 1030(or equivalent) with a minimum grade of ‘C’, completion of Biology 1000 and Biology 1010 (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of 'C+'. 
  • Valid certification in Health Care Provider, Basic Rescuer CPR and Standard Red Cross First Aid completed prior to applying to the Athletic Therapy Program. 

King’s can offer 24-30 credits needed transferable into the Bachelors of Kinesiology at the U of M and other universities. The specific required courses should be researched in advance to ensure transfer-ability.
