Welcome to a brrrr-y cold blog! Just when you thought that winter isn’t all that exciting, I have a treat for you! This blog will outline 5 festivals and events for you to attend to help you fly through the winter season. These festivals are happening all around Edmonton and the Alberta region. Are you brave enough to tough out the cold?

Deep Freeze Festival
What: A Byzantine Winter Festival that gathers Ukrainian, Franco-Albertan, Franco-African, Indigenous and Acadian/East Coast communities to participate in the beauty  of winter. Includes lots of cultural games and food!
When: January 11-12, 2020
Where: Alberta Avenue - 118 Avenue NW & 91 Street, Edmonton

Silver Skate Festival
What: Rooted in Dutch winter traditions, this festival includes skating, arts and culture and recreation. They are the longest running winter festival in Edmonton!
When: February 7-17, 2020

SnoMo Day
What: A festival that supports motorized and non-motorized winter sports along with a whole bunch of family oriented, winter leisure activities.
When: February 15-17, 2020
Where: Alberta Beach
Price: Free (food bank donation)

Sylvan Lake Winter Fest
What: A festival for all outdoor winter activities like the polar bear dip, ice skating, skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, Aquatic Centre and more!
When: February 14-17 2020
Where: Sylvan Lake Alberta
Price: Free

Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival
What: Ice artists from around the world compete and carve to make the most amazing ice sculptures.
When: January 15-26, 2020
Where: The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, 111 Lake Louise Drive, Lake Louise
Price: There are free and ticketed days found on the website
