The Great Divorce
The Great Divorce is an allegory on heaven and hell by C. S. Lewis of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and Screwtape Letters fame. Ghostly characters travel on magic bus from their dismal grey town (which may be Hell or Purgatory) to a shining landscape on the outskirts of Heaven. There they meet joyful figures who invite them to abandon the attitudes and behaviours that keep them trapped.
