12 Recipes to Spice it Up for National Herb and Spice Day

Jun 09, 2020

Season greetings! I think it is time to spice it up for this years’ National Herb and Spice Day! In honor of this spicy day, I have asked a handful of people for their recommended recipes to try that involves their favorite herbs. In today’s blog, I am going to feature two show-stopping spices and two herbaceous herbs. Without further ado, I think it’s thyme to dive in!

Turmeric Recipes

Turmeric Honey Paste
If you want a really easy paste to make to go along with any meal or snack, I recommend this recipe because it adds a little bit of spice but also a little bit of sweetness from the honey.

Bite-Sized Salmon Tikka
Not only is salmon tasty, it is also super nutritious! With this easy and quick recipe, you’ll be able to serve salmon on your dinner table in no time.

Spicy Potatoes & Scrambled Eggs
Seems like a weird combination but it includes all the things I love – potatoes and eggs with a generous amount of turmeric. I also really love breakfast foods so this is a great recipe to make if you’re looking for a nice and hearty breakfast.

Garlic Recipes

Roasted Potatoes with Garlic Butter
There’s nothing I love more than roasted potatoes. Adding garlic to potatoes is just the finishing touch that everyone must try!

Zuppa Toscana
This is a dairy-free potato soup recipe that utilizes garlic to enhance its flavors. It is certainly drool-worthy.

Garlic Knots
I couldn’t have thought of anything better for garlic to be used for. If we are looking for garlic to be the star of the show, you cannot go wrong with making yourself some garlic twists.

Thyme

Thymed Zucchini Saute
Zucchini is another super healthy and easy alternative to make alongside a different dish or even make this the main meal. Either way, this recipe requires very low prep and a whole lot of deliciousness!

Thyme-Baked Apple Slices
To throw in something a little bit different, we have a nice alternative to potatoes. You can have this as a side dish to any meat you cook or better yet – you can have this as is!

Honey-Thyme Butternut Squash
I do love a good old potato salad dish but butternut squash is also a healthy change. It has quite the colour too!

Parsley

Almond & Parsley Salsa Verde
Is this even a recipe blog if there is no salsa of some sort involved? Because parsley is one of the most popular herbs to work with, this recipe is a simple and easy way to create a topping for almost anything you cook! The best part is that it only takes 15 minutes to make.

Zucchini Noodle Salad with Parsley-Pistachio Pesto
Here we go again with the zucchini but this time it’s made into a noodle salad! I really like this recipe because you can have a little fun with the ingredients you have. Instead of noodles you have zucchini, and zucchini and parsley sound like a good pair to me!

Quinoa Tabbouleh
Last but not least, we have one of the most famous grains. Along with the lemony flavor of this meal, adding the herbs kicks it up a couple of notches. You can serve this as a nice salad or a side snack. Either way, I am glad that parsley exists for this recipe to be ten times tastier!

Ta-da! Here we have 12 amazing recipes for you to try out. Healthy never tasted so good! Actually, herbs and spices have never tasted so good. Elvis Parsley once said, “there’s no job too immense, when you got confidence” … to try these recipes out!

Yours truly,
Bianca
