5 Edmonton Thrift Shops to Visit for National Thrift Shop Day

Aug 14, 2020

On behalf of National Thrift Shop Day on August 17, this blog will be about some fun thrifting places to visit in person or online!

We’ve written a few blogs about thrifting in the past that you can check out to enhance the thrifting experience: Make sure you take a look at Master Thrifting and The Best Student Discounts in Edmonton.

More Than A Fad – 6924 68 Ave NW. Edmonton, AB.
In my recent blog about small businesses in Edmonton, I talked about More Than a Fad. This is a thrifting store where 100% of proceeds go towards supporting those who are battling addiction at Adeara Recovery Centre. They have an online platform on Instagram but recently they opened up their very own store in Edmonton! They sell not only clothes but furniture, books, and children’s toys that are all in ideal condition.

Thrift Books
For anyone heading into education to become a teacher, I highly recommend visiting Thrift Books. They have newly used and even new books for really great prices. What’s even better is you don’t even have to leave your house to shop for books! Thrift books is a way for educators to purchase and search for all kinds of books online. They even send you notifications to your email letting you know if they have restocked on a book you were currently looking for!

Goodwill – 3803 Calgary Trail NW. Edmonton, AB.
One of my favorite places to tell people about is Goodwill. Now although this is not anything new, there is a newly built Goodwill on gateway that is extremely organized and the staff are super friendly. They also have tons of books if you’re going into education and are starting to build up your classroom library. I have also noticed they sell tons of storage and bookshelves for really cheap if you need something to place your books on!

Country Clothesline – 201 Athabascan Ave. Sherwood Park, AB.
Country Clothesline is one of our admissions counsellors’, Courtney’s, favorite store to thrift from! If you’re looking for staple items to use as seasonal decorations or furniture, you’re truly in for a ride with this thrift shop! With how thrifty and affordable their pieces are, there is no second guessing what you’ll put in your shopping bag.

Plato’s Closet
In Edmonton, we have two different locations of Plato’s Closet. That’s how great it is! At this thrift store there are heaps of items to choose from. This is a good spot for trendy items!

Hopefully these local shops and their affordable and trendy items will enhance your thrifting experience. May you uncover all the best thrifting deals and items!

Yours truly,
Bianca
