Clinical Interest

Danielle has a clinical specialty in psychosocial oncology--a division of cancer care that provides psychological support to cancer patients and their family members. In addition to her focus in psychosocial oncology, Danielle brings a broad clinical foundation in diverse settings including community agencies, private practice, and a university counselling centre. Danielle’s approach to psychotherapy is integrative and draws on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), including mindfulness, existential psychotherapy, and family systems theory. She also works across therapeutic modalities including individual, group, and couple therapy.

Research Focus

Danielle’s research in psychosocial oncology is centred on the psychosocial factors that influence the stress reactions and coping responses experienced by cancer patients and their intimate partners. This work involves investigating the influence of dyadic factors (e.g., dyadic coping, relationship quality, efficacy) on stress outcomes (e.g., distress, traumatic stress) that are experienced across the illness trajectory. The long-term goal of Danielle’s program of research is to develop and evaluate psychosocial interventions for couples coping with cancer.
